Below are a list of commonly used abbreviations in ophthalmology and what they refer to:

OD – right eye

OS – left eye

OU – both eyes

IOP – intraocular pressures

VF – visual field

CE – cataract extraction

PVD – posterior vitreous detachment

RD – retinal detachment

K – cornea

DES – Dry eye syndrome

MGD – Meibomian gland dysfunction

AC – anterior chamber
